From Miami, the run heads north on Florida's Turnpike and I-75 to I-10 near Lake City, then west across the Panhandle, past Mobile and the New Orleans area, and into Houston. Jacksonville pickups join I-10 at its eastern end; Tampa and Orlando loads reach it on I-75. For Dallas–Fort Worth, the route picks up I-20 for the last leg into the Metroplex.

Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston freight areas

Texas freight concentrates in two metros. In Dallas–Fort Worth, we deliver to the south Dallas distribution area along I-20 and I-45, to the Alliance area north of Fort Worth, and to the warehouse belt around Grand Prairie and Arlington in between. In Houston, freight clusters around the port terminals at Barbours Cut and Bayport on the east side, and along I-10 and US-290 on the west and northwest sides.

  • Big distribution buildings receive by appointment: send the number with the tender
  • Port-area facilities run strict gate procedures; tell us the receiving hours
  • Retail and office receivers without a dock get the liftgate
  • Westbound appointments run on Central time once the truck crosses the Apalachicola River

Eastbound: Dallas and Houston to Florida trucking

Eastbound freight from Texas to Florida rides the same interstates in reverse. We pick up at Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston distribution centers, manufacturers and port-area buildings and deliver to Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and South Florida, ending close to our Miami base.

Because the eastbound leg heads home, Texas to Florida space is worth asking about before you post the load. Send the pickup window, the Florida delivery ZIP and your pallet count, and dispatch confirms space and a rate.

Make the corridor work for you

Shipping to Texas often means a few pallets rather than a full trailer, which is where a partial truckload in a 26 ft box shines. Steady weekly volume belongs on one of our dedicated lanes for brokers. Stopping in Atlanta instead? See Miami–Atlanta. For how we plan long hauls, see interstate box truck freight. To price a load, send ZIPs, dates and pallet details on the quote form.

Frequently asked questions

How long does freight take from Florida to Texas?

Typical transit from South Florida to Houston or Dallas–Fort Worth is 2 to 3 days. Houston is about 1,200 miles from Miami on I-75 and I-10, and Dallas–Fort Worth about 1,300 with I-20 for the last leg. A solo driver follows hours-of-service rules, so we give you a realistic estimate at quote time.

Do you deliver to both Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston?

Yes. In Dallas–Fort Worth we deliver to the south Dallas distribution area, the Alliance area north of Fort Worth, and Grand Prairie and Arlington. In Houston we cover the port areas around Barbours Cut and Bayport and the west and northwest sides. Send the delivery ZIP, receiving hours and any appointment number.

Can you pick up in Texas for delivery in Florida?

Yes. Dallas and Houston to Florida trucking is the eastbound half of this corridor, and it brings our trucks back toward their Miami base. We pick up at distribution centers, manufacturers and port-area buildings and deliver to Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and South Florida. Send both ZIPs, dates and pallet details for a rate.

Is a box truck a good fit for Florida to Texas freight?

It is when the load is a few pallets up to a full 26 ft box, when the freight should not be cross-docked, or when a receiver has no dock. Each truck takes up to 12 standard pallets, weight permitting, and carries a hydraulic liftgate. For a full 53 ft load, a tractor-trailer is usually the better value.
